4.13_random grunge

Some random grunge experiments that have (mostly) been sitting on my computer for a while.  Some of these were done with brushes, some were done with standard Paint Shop Pro effects.  The gradients used are mine.  This set is kind of small, only 1000x1000 but they ought to still be useful for web graphics.

Brushes used were from
Bittbox.com and Webdesignerlab.com

The Birth of Rose B. Fischer

Okay, this is kind of a personal post.  I'm placing it on both of my blogs and any other place I spend time on the internet.

4.13_A4 Grungy Paper Textures

Here's a small set of paper textures I made as part of my recent comparison experiments between Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. Made with the same brushes, but I tried to do something unique with each.

Alternate Download @ my DA gallery
Textures made using this brush set

*Site Supporters have the option of requesting the link to a bonus pack that contains the textures, plus five bonus brushes, three stripe patterns, and 4 extra accent sheets @ 3600x3600 each.  (Supporters, please remember to leave a comment if you would like the bonus material.)

Details and description below.

4.13_fun stripe brush samples

These are samples this brush set. I really liked them, so I decided to make them available separately.  The style is similar to some of the collage stuff I've done before, but I'm experimenting with different structures and went more with stripes and lines than with shapes.

They're also a little different because they were made partly in Photoshop (the backgrounds) and partly in Paint Shop Pro (the stripe and accent brushes.)

As usual, these are free for you to use, but you must do something creative with them and not redistribute them as is or cut them and upload them in pieces.

Quick Tip: Tiling Watermark Pattern in PSP 8

One of the first tutorials I wrote on Encompass Rose Design was a how-to on creating a raised watermark.  That one works nicely if you just want a signature or other information in one spot, but what if you are creating reference material or providing samples of material? Here's a quick way to protect your content and still have it be serviceable as a sample.

Program: Paint Shop Pro.  Mine was done in PSP 8 but it will work in any version.
Difficulty: Beginner to intermediate.  The steps are not hard, but the tutorial has less explanation and fewer screenshots than I would typically do for a beginner.
Translatable: Should work in most image programs, depending on how yours handles tiling patterns.

4.13_grunge experiments

I'm experimenting again. For this set, I wanted to do two things--get some hard grunge that I liked and challenge myself to use colors that I normally don't. So you have one here that looks like the Incredible Hulk, some grayscale, and a softer blue one because I felt like trying the grayscale ones as overlays. Zip file coming soon.
