3.13_glassy gradient effects textures

I know I've been quiet this week. I hurt my other hand, and I haven't been able to do much with the computer. But I have some experiments for you.

These were done with my own gradients, noise filters, and/or the "leather" effects in PSP. I know they look nothing like leather, but hey--they're pretty cool.

Donation Pack 4

I've gotten enough in donations to keep my Mediafire account going.  I don't have enough to renew my paid account on Photobucket since they've changed their price plans.  So, I will be adding a few more donation packs next month.  Please help out a little if you can.

I also added this to the original Donation Packs post.  If you've donated already, please leave a comment letting me know you'd like the link.  If you haven't, please read the info in the original post. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

2.13_icon texture brushes

If these look a little familiar, then, congratulations. You get a cookie for being observant. I liked these textures a lot so I made them into brushes.  Thought they might be useful for the LJ/DW users out there.

Here's a random assortment of stuff I did this week, unrestricted.  If you find it useful, fantastic.  Most of it was just fooling around with effects.  Some are seamless, some arent.  Have fun.

Stock From Stock-An Illustrated View

I've been wanting to make a tutorial on composites that rely on blending of shapes and colors since those are my favorite sort of texture to make, but my arm isn't cooperating.  So I decided to do this post instead, and if there's enough interest, I will go back and do a full tutorial another time.

I have no problem with other artists creating stock and resources out of mine, as long as anyone who does so is willing to share what they make freely under the same terms.  I see more and more resource providers who don't allow stock to be made from theirs--which is absolutely their right.  The problem is, a lot of them also seem to spend as much time worrying about "stolen" stock or being credited for their work as they do having fun with their art.  It seems awfully counterproductive to me, and I set up this post as an illustration of why.

The full sized versions of the textures below are 2500x2500 px
and 1414x2100.  A zip file is in this post.

Tutorials

Here is a collection of tutorials recommended to me by their author, whom I know as the admin of psp-art-studio.com

They are geared toward beginners and the projects are a lot different from mine, so maybe you'll enjoy the change.

Donation Gift Packs

Hello everyone. As I mentioned in a recent post I hurt my arm really badly. It's worse than I initially thought. I don't know when I'll be able to go back to work, since my job is to type for my boss. I had a lot of unexpected big expenses in 2012, including emergency medical bills, medical equipment, and doctor visits that I needed to pay for out of pocket. Those bills are taken care of and I have enough to get by on, but things are going to be very tight.

I need a new computer. I'm not sure I can afford that, and I know I can't afford to do that and continue pay for the hosting costs related to this blog. (It's a blogspot page, so yes, it's free, but all of the content is hosted privately--and there is a lot of high res content, so I can't just switch to free plans.  Once my paid accounts on PB, Flickr and Mediafire go, so will all the freebies. That includes not only the resources but ALL of the livejournal/dreamwidth icons, all of the free graphics, and anything else that I have posted there over the years.)

I really love doing the blog, and it's important to me to keep as much of my content as possible free for everyone to use.

So, this is what I am going to do. I am looking to raise about $500 toward a new computer and/or $100 toward hosting costs.

In the next few days, I will be adding several more gift packs.

Anybody who donates any amount of money--even a dime--can choose to download ALL the gift packs I offer.  Just post a comment or leave your email address in the comment box on paypal and I will send you whatever ones you ask for.

Anybody who donates $5.00 or more can request a custom pack.

If you are on Livejournal or Dreamwidth, you can also request custom icons.
Anyone can request a custom site header or a wallpaper or other large graphic.

You can use the donate button in the sidebar.  You do not need a paypal account.

Thank you in advance; I really appreciate any help you can give.

More packs below.

Update: I'd like to thank the folks who've donated or offered to help host some of my content.  I'm still in need of donations.  I have about $14.50 (minus Paypal fees) and an offer from one of the blog's followers to host the resource zip files.  His space is limited, however, and I don't want it to be a problem as the blog grows, so I won't be hosting any of the older content from LJ (resources or graphics) there, and I probably won't put many of the lose resources up at all.

That means I still need to raise the money for Photobucket and/or Flickr.  So these offers will remain open until whenever I go back to work.

Old Gradients (Multiformat)

Boy, it's been a long day.  I started trying to get this set posted about 12 hours ago and I'm just getting it up now.

This is an older set of gradients that I hadn't posted.  I'm not sure if they'll all work in older versions of PSP.  I think I made some of them in PSP X5 and then realized I ought to be using an older version and switched to PSP 8.

As such, I also don't know if the corresponding photoshop grd files will work in all versions of photoshop.  So, download them, try them, and if they work for you, fantastic.  If not, I'm sorry.

There is also a .jpg imagepack at 100x100 px which you can use for LJ icons.  I'll do a high res imagepack on request, since I messed up with this set and I want everyone to be able to use it.
Note: A few of these look really similar in the previews, but they're not the same file.

This set is free, but if you can afford to make a small donation to help keep the site running, I would be grateful.  Read this post to find out why.

A little informative link for blogger users.  This post on madmadrasi.net will explain how to clean up unwanted labels with the new blogger, since the help files are still showing the method for the "old" blogger.
